Twenty years ago, Whiffy began during my children’s nap time.
At the time, my children were three and one. Like many moms with little ones, I was looking for a creative outlet that could fit into the small pockets of quiet in my day. I loved to sew, and I began making simple lavender sachets.
From a simple sachet to everyday comfort
As the business evolved, so did the products. Whiffy grew from those early children’s sachets into a collection of microwavable heating pads and reusable cold packs made for everyday life.
Today, every Whiffy is filled with whole flax seed and can be warmed in the microwave or chilled in the freezer. Customers can choose from several sizes, beautiful fabrics, and optional herbs, including lavender, peppermint, and chamomile. Unscented Whiffys are available too.
The designs have changed. The logo has changed. The product collection has grown. But the things that matter most have stayed the same.
Whiffys are still handmade. I still care deeply about choosing fabrics that feel calming and beautiful. And I still believe comfort does not need to be complicated.
The Whiffys that became part of the family
One of the most meaningful parts of these 20 years has been seeing how Whiffy becomes part of people’s routines.
Someone may first buy one for herself. Then she comes back for one for her teenager, her husband, her mom, her sister, or her best friend. A Whiffy may be used during a quiet evening on the couch, after a long day, on a chilly night, or whenever someone needs a few minutes to slow down.
Over the years, many customers have told me they still own Whiffys they purchased long ago. They may be faded, softened, and very well loved, but they are still bringing comfort. As a maker, there is no better compliment than knowing something I created has earned a place in someone’s home and life.
Celebrating 20 years and what comes next
This September, Whiffy is celebrating 20 years of handmade comfort. Throughout the month, I’ll be sharing memories, old logos, behind-the-scenes moments, customer stories, and a few special surprises.
This anniversary is a celebration of the people who have supported Whiffy along the way. Every order, recommendation, review, follow, comment, and return customer has helped this small business reach a milestone I could hardly have imagined during those early nap-time sewing sessions.
Twenty years later, I still love creating something that helps people feel cared for.
